Grizzly - February 26, 1908

The last "coast grizzly bear" in Orange County, shot by former game warden W.E. Ed Adkinson, on February 26, 1908. The bear was shot following raids on apiaries in Holy Jim Canyon.

According to OC historian, Jim Sleeper the hide was sent to the Smithsonian in 1908. It was catloged as No. 156494. However, when Mr. Sleeper made an inquiriy about the hide in 1975, they could not locate it.zenajn
