In the late 1940s, Alice's family moved-in to what used to be an Irvine Company Clubhouse located on Peters Lake (Peters Canyon Reservoir, Orange, CA) which was James Irvine's personal fishing lake. The Irvine Company allowed the Chandlers to inhabit the house, hoping it would help deter trespassers. As the trespassing persisted, Alice was made a special deputy and her badge proved effective in deterring any further trespassing incidents.
