[The big roundup of 1942]
The Marine Corps takeover signaled the end of the "big ranch". In an epic roundup, some 12,000 head of Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores cattle were corralled for the market, or driven north to the O'Neill portion of the ranch in Orange County, which became known as the Rancho Mission Viejo. Alternate titles: Big roundup of nineteen forty-two.
