[The Ranch joins the Marines]
Dedicated on Sept. 25, 1942 as camp Joseph H. Pendleton, the ranch's heritage was given tribute when the base adopted the old Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores brand as its camp symbol. Meanwhile, Rancho Mission Viejo "went to war," supplying beef, grain, and produce to the troops.
